Mission
The mission of the Romulus Police Department Honor Guard is to represent the department at funerals, ceremonial functions, and other special events.
Overview
The Honor Guard renders honors at the funerals of not only to Romulus Police Officers lost in the line of duty, but also at funerals to both active and retired Police Officers as well as City officials. The Honor Guard serves as the Color Guard at various City events, as well as events held in the private sector. Honor Guard Members represent the department and serve as ambassadors of the City of Romulus at events on the local, state, and national levels. Its members strive to represent the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
The Romulus Police Department Honor Guard was formed in 1997 and consists of active members of the Romulus Police Department. These officers dedicate their time and efforts in representing this agency and the law enforcement profession to the highest of standards of integrity, professionalism. Members are trained in presentation of flags, advanced marching, rifle maneuvers, and funeral processions and rites.
Upon request, the Romulus Police Department's Honor Guard will present, post, and or retire the National Colors during public relations events, parades, and other special City and community events. The Honor Guard provides departmental honors to the family of deceased active and retired Romulus police officers. The Honor Guard also represents the department at the funeral services of members of other law enforcement agencies.
