Solid Waste Program

Overview

Rubbish removal is provided by a private commercial company contracted by the City of Romulus. Call Waste Management Inc. with any questions at 866-797-9018.

Guidelines

One 96-gallon trash cart (green lid) and one 64-gallon recycling cart (yellow lid) are provided for each residence. Place normal residential rubbish curbside in carts. Have carts at the curb by 6 am or no earlier than 4 pm the night before your collection day.

  • Cart use is required. Other bags and receptacles for trash or recycling will not be accepted.
  • All residents have the option to increase their recycling cart from 64 gallons to 96 gallons at an additional charge.
  • Residents age 65 and older can decrease the trash and/or recycle cart to the 36-gallon cart at any time with no fee.
  • Contact Waste Management with requests for pickup of occasional/non-recurring excess (bagged) material outside of either cart.
  • Residents can acquire additional carts at a charge. Contact Waste Management for pricing information.
  • Every cart has a serial number coded to the address were originally delivered. Contact Waste Management for information on cart replacement and warranty.
